A New Way to Diversify: Bloomberg Enhanced Roll Yield Index

Broad-based commodities portfolios are typically used to hedge inflation and provide return diversification for equities and fixed income investors. A key concern for commodity investors is negative yield from the shape of futures’ curves, which contributes to return degradation over extended periods.

Bloomberg addresses this concern with the Bloomberg Enhanced Roll Yield Index (BERY), a broad-based, long-only commodity benchmark that extends the Bloomberg Commodity Index (BCOM) family, while incorporating aspects of risk-premia strategies. BERY utilizes insights based on collaboration with BlackRock.

In this webinar, we'll discuss how BERY diminishes the traditional trade-off between liquidity and performance, and ultimately seeks to provide high capacity and mitigate the impact of negative carry and reduce roll congestion.
