Foreign Funds: how to Access China

China now grants access to more than 400 foreign institutions, allowing them to invest through private securities funds, the local version of hedge funds. Global players hoped a new fundraising channel would give their struggling local businesses a quick boost.

However, there are challenges for foreign funds due to a lack of distribution channels, limits on the types of assets they can trade through the Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor program, and local players' continued domination.

Discussion topics:
  • Chinese hedge fund industry policies and dynamics
  • How foreign funds can access China
  • Funds' challenges before, during and after launching in China
  • Tech stack elements to consider when expanding into China
