ESG Roundtable for Iros: Developing Your ‘S’ Story

The past ten years have seen a notable increase in Corporate Environmental and Governance disclosures, but for the Investor Relations community the "S," or social component, has historically been lacking. However, in today's corporate setting, considerations of Covid-19 implications and significant social movements have brought the Corporate Social Responsibility conversation to the forefront. IRO’s are now working with a network of executives, and leaders within the firm to understand and implement develop the frameworks around Social Responsibility transparency and disclosure. 

Join us as Sabina Mehmood, Gender-Equality Index Product Manager moderates a discussion on the role of IRO’s in moving the social responsibility process forward. Panelists Rainey Mancini, Senior Vice President Investor Relations, The Estée Lauder Companies Inc., Corey Kinger, VP of Investor Relations, Weight Watchers, and Chris Michel, Head of Diversity & Inclusion, Americas, Bloomberg will provide insight on how companies can begin to measure their performance in order to manage effective change as they continue to move the needle forward on Corporate Social Responsibility.

Corey Kinger

Corey Kinger is the Vice President of Investor Relations at WW International, Inc., formerly known as Weight Watchers. She has worked in investor relations for more than 15 years. Before joining WW, she was a Managing Director at Brainerd Communicators, a strategic communications consultancy. She is a member of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI), and from 2012 to 2018 served on the Board of Directors of the New York Chapter. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for two NYC-based arts organizations: On Site Opera and NYCHORAL.

Rainey Mancini

Laraine (Rainey) Mancini is the Senior Vice President, Investor Relations, for The Estée Lauder Companies. In this role, Laraine oversees the company’s day-to-day comprehensive, strategic investor relations program. Since joining the company in 2018, she has continued to advance and protect The Estée Lauder Companies’ outstanding reputation with key financial stakeholders, shape and articulate the company’s investment story, and serve as a spokesperson to the investment community on the company’s performance and corporate values. Her responsibilities include broadening awareness of the company among global institutional investors by leading the company’s dialogue with the global investment community while educating current and prospective investors as well as the analyst community about the company’s business strategies and performance. Laraine is a seasoned finance executive with nearly 30 years of experience spanning the media, business and financial sectors. Prior to joining The Estée Lauder Companies, from 2015-2017, Laraine served as Senior Vice President, Finance & Head of Investor Relations at Univision. In this role, she established and oversaw Univision’s Investor Relations department, cultivated strong relationships with operating partners and the Wall Street investment community, and served as a strategic advisor to the CEO and CFO for investor meetings and financial earnings communications. Previously, Laraine served as Vice President, Corporate Strategy & Business Development at Time Warner Cable, where she oversaw key competitive strategies, spearheaded the modeling and analysis of new commercial partnership agreements, and assessed the ROI of various network investments. She initially served as Vice President, Investor Relations at Time Warner Cable, helping the company earn numerous industry awards for best media investor relations. Prior to working in investor relations, Laraine spent more than 10 years as a sell-side media analyst working at Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, and several years working in corporate finance. Laraine holds a MBA from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Vermont.

Chris Michel

Head of Diversity & Inclusion

Chris Michel is the Americas Head of Diversity & Inclusion at Bloomberg LP. In this role, he provides thought leadership and guidance to HR partners, business leaders, managers and employees. Mr. Michel joined Bloomberg from Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. (BBH), where he was the first Chief Diversity Officer in the firm’s 200-year history. At BBH, he was responsible for developing and implementing global strategies to grow the bank’s cultural competency, attract and retain employees across the full spectrum of diversity, and build the firm’s external profile as a leader in diversity and inclusion efforts. Prior to BBH, Michel spent several years at the American International Group (AIG) where he was the Head of Leadership Development, charged with driving the strategic direction and integration of assessment methodologies and development experiences for AIG’s top executives globally. He has held several senior-level diversity and HR roles over the course of his career and been responsible for initiatives and programs in over 60 countries around the world. Having served as a member of several non-profit boards, he is also an award-winning writer of short-story fiction and spent one season as a volunteer assistant coach of the boys’ Varsity basketball team at St. Thomas High School in Houston, Texas. Michel graduated summa cum laude from the City College of New York, and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.

Sabina Mehmood

Product Manager, Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index

Sabina Mehmood joined Bloomberg in March 2015 where she serves as product manager of the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI). The GEI, which sits in Bloomberg's Sustainable Finance Solutions team, tracks the financial performance of companies committed to advancing women in the workplace globally. Previously specializing in marketing management, Sabina has supported government relations, media and communications initiatives across the firm as well as well as philanthropic programming at Bloomberg Philanthropies. Sabina also sits as a steering committee member of the US 30% Club, managing client relations and programming. In this role, Sabina builds regionalized, targeted, and integrated event strategies that enable cross-business integration and influence business value and results. Sabina has a BBA in Finance from the Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College, and a MS in Corporate Communications from The Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, Baruch College.
