Dr Abdullah Alshwer

Dr. Alshwer is the CEO of Ashmore Investment Saudi Arabia. He joined Ashmore in 2017, after serving as the Chief Executive and Secretary General of the Higher Education Fund (HEF), the investment arm for 26 public Saudi universities, where he was responsible for managing its multi-asset-class, multi-market investment portfolio. He advises multiple private and government entities in Saudi Arabia where he was a senior advisor to the minister of education in areas related to investment and financial affairs. Dr. Alshwer had served as chairman of the finance department at King Saud University, he has also served as chairman and member of the Advisory Committee at the Capital Markets Authority (CMA), Saudi Arabia. Dr. Alshwer holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Wisconsin’s Lubar School of Business, MBA in Finance from the University of Toledo, BA in Finance from King Saud University, and is a CFA charter holder. He has completed multiple executive education programs at Harvard, LBS, IMD, and INSEAD

Dr Naji Alshanmmasi

Dr Naji M. Al-Shammasi is the chairman of the Accounting & Finance department, returning back to the university after serving as an Executive Research Advisor at the Capital Market Authority. He joined the CMA from KFUPM Business School (KBS) in 2019. Before that, he worked as a financial analyst and a portfolio manager in the Saudi Investment Bank. He managed mutual funds and discretionary portfolios (SR 3 billion AUM) from 2004 to 2007. In 2006 he was awarded the Lipper Funds Award as the best fund performance in Saudi Arabia.

Dr Anis Samet. FRM

Dr. Anis Samet holds a Ph.D. from HEC-Montreal-Canada, and he is a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM). He is currently teaching undergraduate and EMBA courses at the American University of Sharjah (AACSB accredited), UAE. He offered several training in Finance and Risk Management to several institutions including the UAE Central Bank, UAE Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), Dubai Financial Market (DFM), Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX), Nasdaq-Dubai, Sharjah Asset Management (SAM), and Sharjah Finance Ministry. Before moving to the UAE, he worked as a Risk Management Advisor at the largest pension fund in Canada. His research interests include international finance, risk management, liquidity, asset pricing, corporate finance, and corporate governance. Dr Anis Samet has made several professional presentations at international conferences and workshops.
