Inflation Nation: America’s Rocky Road to Recovery

The U.S. Federal Reserve has two main goals: 1) to monitor and maintain America's unemployment 2) to keep inflation at a healthy ~2%. The global pandemic has made this a difficult balancing act. The Fed believes that recent inflation is 'transitory' but perhaps it may persist. If so, will the Fed tighten policy to combat inflation and what would this mean for GDP growth and asset prices in the coming years?

Join Bloomberg for Education to learn about the tools to track major economic indicators such as inflation and unemployment and how to analyze this data to gain insights into the direction of financial markets.

In this presentation we will cover how to:
  • Understand the causes of inflation as the US emerges from the pandemic
  • Analyze CPI data historically and gauge expectations of CPI for the next few years
  • Interpret the breakdown of the latest CPI release to see what's driving CPI
  • Assess additional data helpful in forecasting inflation
  • Predict the potential path of the economy given specified inflation expectation assumptions
