• Automate physical risk monitoring and reporting for a portfolio of companies
• Incorporate physical risk assessments into traditional risk frameworks

Spotlight: Real-World Lessons in Physical Risk
A Bloomberg News feature, “America’s Factories Weren’t Built to Endure This Many Hurricanes,” highlights the tangible challenges of assessing physical risk. The article recounts Lennox International Inc.’s experience with a 2018 tornado that devastated its Texas-based air conditioning and furnace plant, offering a case study on the financial implications of inadequate climate resilience.

Innovative Solutions for Physical Risk Analysis
Bloomberg, in partnership with Riskthinking.AI, launched a comprehensive physical climate risk solution in Q3 2023 and has since improved and expanded the approach to allow clients assess the impacts of the climate events more precisely on a more granular time horizons scale. By leveraging Bloomberg’s extensive asset-level database and Riskthinking.AI’s cutting-edge climate modeling, the solution enables users to:

• Evaluate physical risk for approximately 50,000 companies globally.
• Assess both current exposure and strategic adaptation efforts across four scenarios and time horizons extending to 2050.
• Gain actionable insights through an intuitive and validated approach.

Riskthinking.AI’s stochastic modeling methodology further enhances transparency and stakeholder confidence. By embracing the inherent uncertainties of climate pathways, their models have demonstrated exceptional predictive accuracy—capturing 97% of record-breaking temperature events in 2023 using projections generated prior to 2023.
