For over 12 years Michael has been a Foreign Exchange Market Specialist working with international investment banks and multinational corporations, assisting clients to understand FX market trends. Michael has taken on a specialty in cryptocurrencies to help clients navigate this new frontier. Prior to joining Bloomberg, Michael worked as a Senior Foreign Exchange Dealer with 20 years of FX trading experience in New York at U.S and International investment banks, including Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers and BNP Paribas. Michael holds a BBA in Finance from Hofstra University and currently resides in Lattingtown, N.Y.

Michael McDonough is the Chief Economist and Global Business Manager for Central Banks & Government Financial Agencies at Bloomberg LP where he provides guidance on economic trends, strategic insight and outreach to central banks and government financial agencies around the world. Michael’s previous roles at Bloomberg include building the company's first global team of economists, who provides in-depth analysis of macroeconomic data, policy and trends as well as a voice at crucial financial conferences. Prior to managing the economists, he oversaw Bloomberg’s global economic business, including product development and data acquisition on the Bloomberg Professional Services. Michael also spent two years in Hong Kong where he focused on Asian markets while launching Bloomberg’s research business in Asia.
