The FIFA World Cup has been a boon to DraftKings and FanDuel handle while aiding early-round ticket and hotel demand, though 3Q’s impact for hoteliers Marriott, Hilton and IHG, and ticket-reseller StubHub, won’t be clear until final-round lineups emerge. Join analysts Conroy Gaynor, Brian Egger, Peter Tang, Jody Lurie and Kevin Near on June 30, as they discuss BI’s World Cup gaming, lodging and entertainment scenario. BI estimates $2.25 billion in US wagers, up 68% vs. 2022, and at least $700 million in secondary ticket sales, with 77% of matches hosted in the US. That said, June-July Macau win could miss consensus as World Cup views and bets divert player budgets and 3Q hotel rates hinge on close-in bookings for late rounds. Though primary match-ticket sales were aided by entertainment, ticket resale volumes remain fluid.
