Hugh Bromley

Sustainable Agriculture Research Manager

Hugh Bromley leads BloombergNEF’s Sustainable Agriculture research team. Hugh has more than a decade of experience helping companies and policymakers navigate the energy and ecological transition. Hugh has previously led BNEF’s consumer research, understanding how clean-tech such as alternative proteins, solar PV, batteries and electric vehicles can disrupt markets. Before that he led clean energy research for North America, and produced analysis on distributed energy, utility strategy, and carbon markets within the firm’s Australia research team. Prior to BNEF, Hugh worked as an energy consultant focusing on smart-grid and distributed technology integration. He holds a BE (Hons) in Photovoltaic Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia.

Luiza Demôro is the global Head of Energy Transitions at BloombergNEF (BNEF), Bloomberg’s strategic research provider covering global commodity markets and the disruptive technologies driving the transition to a low-carbon economy. Luiza coordinates BNEF’s research and initiatives in several strategic areas globally. As governments and corporations make unprecedented, long-term pledges to decarbonize, BNEF’s energy transition specialists assess national commitments, and research strategies and policy priorities for the transition of key sectors of the economy. The group’s larger mission is to help stakeholders in the race to zero make better informed plans for the transition.

James Ellis

Head of Research for Latin America

James Ellis is Head of Latin America Research for BloombergNEF (BNEF). He oversees an analyst team focused on research and analysis into clean energy, advanced transport, decarbonization technologies, commodities and corporate sustainability across the region. James joined BNEF in 2017 and has over ten years of energy and commodities research experience in the region. He holds an M.P.A. from Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs and a B.A. magna cum laude from New York University.

Kyle Harrison

Head of Sustainability Research

Kyle leads BNEF’s sustainability research team, which publishes content on the private sector's transition to the low-carbon economy. The team focuses on core areas like environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting, target-setting, low-carbon pathways and sustainable finance. Kyle specializes in corporate clean energy procurement, net-zero targets and voluntary carbon offsets.

Jon is CEO of BloombergNEF taking on this role at the end of 2013. BloombergNEF (BNEF) is a strategic research provider covering global commodity markets and the disruptive technologies driving the transition to a low-carbon economy. BNEF assesses pathways for the power, transport, industry, buildings and agriculture sectors to adapt to the energy transition, helping commodity traders, corporate strategists, finance and policy professionals navigate change. Jon joined New Energy Finance in 2008, which became BloombergNEF in 2010. Prior to 2008, Jon spent a two decades in capital markets, the first decade at JPMorgan and then Accenture, the second decade as co-founder and CEO of a capital Markets management consulting firm, based in London and New York.

Antoine Vagneur-Jones

Antoine Vagneur-Jones leads the Trade and Supply Chains team at BloombergNEF, Bloomberg’s primary research service covering the energy transition. His team's analysis looks at the energy transition’s impact on manufacturing and trade across heavy industry and clean energy. Antoine previously worked for a Tokyo-base PV developer and, prior to that, a think tank in Paris. He holds degrees from the London School of Economics and SOAS, University of London.

Luciana Costa

Luciana Aparecida da Costa has a bachelor degree in Economics from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp) and a Masters degree in Finance from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV-SP) / University of Chicago (USA). Before joining BNDES, Luciana has worked over 25 years in the Brazilian bank industry, in BankBoston, Citibank, ABN AMRO, Standard Bank and, more recently, in Natixis (Groupe BPCE), where Luciana was the CEO in Brazil. Since March 2023, Luciana is the Infrastruture, Energy Transition and Climate Change Managing Director of BNDES.

Luis Viga

Luis Viga joined Fortescue in April 2021 as Country Manager, with responsibility for leading the Green Hydrogen operation in Brazil. He manages the strategy, development of the internal market, feasibility for implementing wind, solar and H2 plants, in addition to the relationship with the government and industry. As president of ABIHV (Brazilian Association for the Green Hydrogen Industry), he plays a crucial role in the promotion and development of green hydrogen as a source of clean and sustainable energy for Brazil. He works to establish partnerships, influence policies and promote industry growth across the country.

Roberta Cox

Roberta Cox is an Environmental Engineer, with a master's degree in Environmental Economic Management. She was an environmental analyst at Ibama in the licensing area for 14 years, and is now licensed from the institute where she also served as Coordinator of Environmental Licensing for Ports and Maritime Structures. She served as Special Advisor to the Minister of the Environment and was a member of the Steering Committee of the National Hydrogen Program (Coges-PNH2). She currently works at the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) as Policy Director for Brazil.

Rodrigo Lauria

Rodrigo Lauria is Director of Climate Change and Carbon at Vale. He joined Vale more than 20 years ago, having worked in the areas of logistics, corporate services integration, planning and performance. Additionally, he is also executive director of Fundo Vale (development and impact investment fund for Nature-Based Solutions). Rodrigo has a degree in Administration from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, an MBA in Corporate Finance from Ibmec and in Economic Engineering from the State University of Rio de Janeiro, in addition to specialization from Saïd Business School – Oxford and Columbia Law School.

Maria Gabriela da Rocha Oliveira

Maria Gabriela da Rocha Oliveira is Director of Renewable Power for Atlas Agro, a Swiss renewable nitrogen fertilizer company focused on feeding the world sustainability by disrupting an industry that accounts for ~2% of the world’s CO2 emissions. Prior to joining Atlas Agro, she served as Head of Renewable Generation for Shell in Brazil where she built Shell’s renewable development business unit in Brazil from scratch. Maria Gabriela has also held positions at First Solar and Bloomberg New Energy Finance. She served as Board Member of the Brazilian Wind Energy Association(ABEEólica) for the 2023/2024 term. Maria Gabriela holds a Masters of International Affairs in Energy Management and Policy from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and a B.A in Political Science and International Relations from Tufts University, in Massachusetts.

José Pugas

José Pugas is a partner and Head of Responsible Investments and Engagement at JGP Asset Management. He is a political scientist with more than 15 years of experience in sustainability and finance, leading several projects in Brazil and Latin America. Currently, José Pugas is an active member of think tanks and international forums dedicated to discussing regenerative finance, nature-based solutions and just transition.

Wilson Lima

Governor of the state of Amazonas

Wilson Lima was the governor with the most votes in the history of Amazonas twice and was a member of União Brasil, the largest party in the country. Amazonian, born in Santarém, in the state of Pará, he has a degree in Social Communication - Journalism. In his management, he prioritizes social issues and the generation of jobs and income, aligned with a sustainable environmental policy. Among the priorities of his administration is the defense of the economic model of the Manaus Free Trade Zone, which contributed to the conservation of more than 97% of the natural coverage of the Amazon. At the same time, he instituted the largest payment program for environmental services in the world, with more than eight thousand families from 28 Conservation Units already benefiting. He has also been responsible for developing projects that contribute to strengthening the state's population, such as the “Forest Schools”, which will bring education and technology to riverside residents; “Água Boa” which has already installed more than 500 water purifiers, besides fixed and mobile treatment stations; and the sanction of the law that authorizes the Forest Concession for sustainable management in the state.

Eduardo Taveira

Secretary for the Environment of the state of Amazonas

Master in Environmental Sciences and Sustainability in the Amazon from the Federal University of Amazonas, Eduardo has a degree in Social Sciences from Ufam (2000) and a specialization in Sustainable Development (2004). He has been Secretary of State for the Environment of Amazonas since January 2019. He was president of the Forum of Environmental Secretaries of the Legal Amazon, from 2019 to January 2023 and is currently the Vice-President of the Brazilian Association of State Entities of Environment (Abema) and Delegate of the Governors Task Force for Climate and Forests (GCF Task-Force). He has more than 15 years of experience with public, environmental and income generation management projects in the Brazilian and international Amazon.
