Carbon pricing is increasingly seen as a popular tool to incentivize decarbonization and support the energy transition. Across Asia Pacific, various carbon markets and exchanges are cropping up as the race to net-zero intensifies. Australia’s carbon market has a checkered history, but with the Safeguard Mechanism reforms announced earlier this year, the dynamics are expected to change. Though one of the more established carbon markets in the region, Australia still has some way to go in gaining critical mass. How will the Safeguard Mechanism credits interact with existing Australian carbon credit units? How will compliance entities navigate this new interplay? And how can Australia future-proof its carbon market? Join industry speakers and Bloomberg market analysts for a look into what they think will transpire in Australia’s carbon market.
