This webinar will review the key findings from BNEF’s annual Energy Transition Investment Trends report and will be moderated by BNEF's Head of Technology, Industry & Innovation Claire Curry. BNEF’s Head of Analysis Albert Cheung will discuss the global trends in how governments, businesses and end-users are investing in clean technologies such as renewable energy, energy storage, electrified transport, electrified heat, hydrogen and carbon capture. In addition, Sarrah Raza, BNEF Technology & Innovation Analyst, will discuss the evolving financing landscape for early-stage companies across the climate-tech spectrum.

Albert Cheung

Albert leads the global analyst team at BloombergNEF (BNEF), a leading provider of primary research on commodities and the low-carbon transition. He oversees BNEF’s research output on the low-carbon transition, including clean energy, transport, buildings, industry and sustainable finance, providing strategic oversight and managing the development and delivery of BNEF’s global research agenda. Albert and his team work closely with energy companies, technology and manufacturing companies, financial institutions and policymakers, supporting them as they navigate the transition towards a cleaner future.

Albert joined BNEF in 2009 and was previously Head of Energy Smart Technologies and Head of Product, before assuming his current role. Albert holds a MEng in Electrical and Information Engineering from the University of Cambridge.

Claire Curry

Head of Technology, Industry & Innovation

Claire leads the technology, industry & innovation research at BloombergNEF, a strategic research group specializing in hard-to-abate decarbonization and early-stage climate tech. These research teams cover sustainable materials, the circular economy, hydrogen, climate-tech corporate finance and technology innovation.

Claire has held previous roles at BNEF as the head of Digital Industry, the battery and fuel cell analyst for the Advanced Transport team and the next-generation biofuels and chems analyst within the Bioenergy team. Claire was also head of the Applied Research work at BNEF. Claire holds an MSc from Imperial College’s Sustainable Energy Engineering and a Chemistry BSc from Durham University.

Sarrah Raza

Technology & Innovation Analyst

BloombergNEF

Sarrah sits within the Technology and Innovation team, leading BloombergNEF’s climate tech investment coverage. The team analyses digital technologies that will enable the transition to the low carbon economy and Sarrah specifically focuses on VC and PE investment flowing into startups, the different funds raising capital and why there is such a boom in funding both early-stage and late-stage climate technologies. Sarah leads our bi-monthly ‘Climate Tech Investment’ report.

Sarrah has also worked on specific technologies including small satellites (for precision agriculture and monitoring environmental change), methane tracking tech in oil and gas and led the climate monitoring challenge within BNEF Pioneers last year.

Sarrah studied at the University of Texas at Austin and at University College London, where she obtained a MSc in Computational Biology.
