He also acts as Chair of the Dubai Office Committee. Prior to assuming his current role, Giuseppe grew his 14 years’ career at Bloomberg through several sales and sales leadership roles such as Head of Buyside Solution Sales for Middle East, Head of Enterprise Sales for UAE in Dubai and Head of Enterprise Sales Italy during his 9 years tenure within our EMEA Headquarter in London, UK. Simpiwe “Sim” Tshabalala is Chief Executive of the Standard Bank Group. Sim was born in Hlabisa, in rural KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He grew up in Soweto and was educated at Sacred Heart College in Johannesburg. Sim attended Rhodes University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988, and a Bachelor of Laws in 1990. He served his articles at Bowman Gilfillan and went on to do a Master of Laws at Notre Dame in the US, which he was awarded summa cum laude, in 1993. Sim was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 1994. He joined Real Africa Durolink Investment Bank in 1994 and worked in its structured finance division until 2000. In that time he continued his studies on a part-time basis and completed the Higher Diploma in taxation law from the University of the Witwatersrand (‘Wits’) in 1996. Sim joined the Project Finance Division of Standard Corporate and Merchant Bank as head of structured finance in 2000, becoming a Director in 2000 and Managing Director of Stanbic Africa in 2001. In 2006 he was appointed Chief Executive of Personal and Business Banking, South Africa. In the same year, he completed Harvard University’s Advanced Management Programme. In March 2008, Sim was appointed as Chief Executive of Standard Bank South Africa. He was appointed as one of three Deputy Chief Executives of the Standard Bank Group in April 2009. In June 2012, Sim took on the additional responsibility for Corporate and Investment Banking’s client franchise in South Africa. In March 2013, Sim was appointed joint Chief Executive of the Standard Bank Group, extending his responsibilities to the banking businesses in Africa beyond South Africa and to the Group’s Wealth businesses. In September 2017, Sim was appointed as the sole Chief Executive of the Standard Bank Group. Among other non-executive responsibilities over the course of his career, Sim has served on the Boards of the Liberty Group; Standard Bank’s subsidiary in Nigeria, Stanbic IBTC; the Banking Association of South Africa, including as Chairman; the Board and Council of Business Leadership South Africa; and the board of the International Monetary Conference. Sim currently serves on the board of the Institute of International Finance, of which he is Vice-Chairman and Treasurer. Sim is a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers of South Africa and an Honorary Professor at the University of Stellenbosch Business School.

Valdene Reddy is the Director of Capital Markets at the JSE. In this capacity she is responsible for all primary and secondary market activity across all asset classes, as well as Issuer Services. Valdene has almost two decades of direct capital markets experience having spent the first decade at international investment banks, and the latter half at the JSE. She also serves on multiple boards of JSE investments and subsidiaries including JSE Clear, JSE Investor Services, JSE Private Placements and Globacap, an EU-based fintech. She started her career in 2005 at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the trading and markets business. Thereafter, moved to Renaissance Capital as Head of Equity Derivative Sales, strategically leading the change from a broking to market-making model, across listed equity derivative products. Valdene holds a Bachelor of Business Science, an Actuarial Science degree from the University of Cape Town and an Advanced Management Program qualification from Harvard Business School.

Sallianne Taylor is Head of Government Relations EMEA within the External Relations & Government Affairs team. The Team advocates for Bloomberg, Bloomberg’s clients and stakeholders within the global regulatory space. Prior to joining the team Sallianne spent two years on secondment at His Majesty’s Treasury working on the Wholesale Market Review which concentrated on reforms to the UK’s Capital Markets following its exit from Europe. Sallianne joined Bloomberg in 1989 and has held positions within Sales, Trading Solutions and Product Development. Prior to her time at His Majesty’s Treasury she led the Market Structure Strategy team which was a natural progression from Global Manager of Exchange Business Management where she oversaw Bloomberg’s relationships with the exchanges and trading venues. Sallianne holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and Italian from Royal Holloway and Bedford New College (University of London). She represents Bloomberg on the executive committee of FISD (Financial Information Services Division of the Software & Information Industry Association) and is on the board of FISD’s parent company, SIIA (Software & Information Industry Association). Sallianne was named Woman of the Year at the inaugural Waters Women in Technology & Data Awards 2018 and in the same year recognised as one of Top 100 Most Influential Women in Finance in Europe by Financial News.

Shoki Ralebepa is currently the Group CFO at the South African Reserve Bank. Shoki completed her auditing accounting training articles at PriceWaterhouseCoopers and has 14 years experience senior management level. In her job, she leads and provide strategic direction to the SARB Group financial functions (R1 Trillion Balance Sheet), leads the administration of the Pension Fund for SARB and subsidiaries (+/- R10 billion), oversee the Corporation for Public Deposits and banking services to the Bank itself and its subsidiaries, the central government and other clients, including liaising with the South African payments and settlements industry.
