In this episode of Need to Know, our series covering the topics and issues influencing markets and the global conversation, Nakul Nair, Quant/Data Science at Bloomberg, defines geolocation data and discusses the future implications of utilizing it to make investment decisions.

“The next big innovation in this space is really around providing greater granularity,” he explains. “If you wanted to understand the supply chain of a company or a country, you could do this in an automated manner, but with the advent of language models, we have greatly improved our ability to scale. So, we can sample a much larger corpus of information and answer more specific questions and even unearth relationships that might otherwise not have been obvious. That really has increased the size and granularity and accuracy of that data.”
