The FX market continues to evolve as trading desks navigate more choice in liquidity, execution methods and counterparties, while also being asked to do more with less. Against that backdrop, firms are looking at how they can scale automation, make better use of trading data and choose the right execution approach for different types of trades.Â
At TradeTech FX 2026, Kat Furber, Global Head of FX Trading at Bloomberg, sat down with The TRADE to discuss how these changes are playing out across the FX market and what they mean for clients.Â
Furber discusses how choice is expanding across both counterparties and trading methods, from rules-based automation and programmatic execution through to more relationship-led workflows. She also looks at how Bloomberg FXGO is continuing to develop in response to growing demand for scale, automation and more detailed trading data.Â
The conversation also turns to FX options, where electronic and programmatic trading continue to grow. Furber explains why there is no single execution model for every trade, with simpler transactions lending themselves more naturally to electronic workflows, while larger or more complex trades may still require specialist dealer interaction.Â
