Creating Deep Dive Analysis with Alternative Data

Join us for a session highlighting how alternative data can be used to create deep dive analysis on public equities to uncover near real-time US consumer trends / insights that may not be directly reported by management, but uncovers themes that may affect future performance. This session will focus on utilizing Bloomberg’s data feed products, namely the Bloomberg Second Measure (BSM) Aggregated Data Feed and the BSM Transaction Level Data Product (TLDP). Discussion Topics:
  • Using our aggregated data feed to highlight sector and subsector “rotation”
  • Customized cohorts to generate insights based on consumer income
  • Applying TLDP to understand corporate strategy or competitive dynamics

As the applied data team lead at Bloomberg Second Measure, Joe helps clients interpret and apply alternative data to their investment research workflows. Prior to joining Bloomberg, Joe was at SaaS data company Exabel and also worked on alternative data-based strategies at firms ranging from family offices to Point72. He holds a BSc from Simon Fraser University in Actuarial Science and an MBA in Finance from Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

As a member of the applied data team at Bloomberg Second Measure, Mike creates and distributes case studies on how to use Bloomberg alternative data sources in investment research workflows, to help clients interpret and apply that data to their own workflow. Prior to joining Bloomberg, Mike was at the cybersecurity data analytics company Devo and also worked on alternative data-based strategies at Point72. He holds a BA in Physics from Williams College.
