Infection, Invasion & Inflation: 2022 FX Volatility

This site is protected by reCAPTCHA and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.

The end of 2021, after years of QE, saw the specter of inflation rear its head. The first quarter of 2022 has seen the situation evolve significantly.

There have been predictions of anywhere from seven to eight U.S. rate hikes. The recent invasion of Ukraine has created huge humanitarian and economic risk, along with potential food shortages and price hikes across Europe. Crude oil has surged above $100. Meanwhile, in Asia, supply chains remain below capacity as Omicron cases skyrocket and hinder those with COVID-zero policies.

The inflation issue has now turned into the very real prospect of "stagflation".

Join us as we survey the overall economic situation, China, and the yuan and the G-10 currencies after the March 16 FOMC meeting. Bloomberg Intelligence will present on the economy and currencies, after which we will hear from David Dredge, CIO of hedge fund Convex Strategies, who will give his take on the current global situation and its effect on FX volatility.
