Economic growth is facing new headwinds from rising inflationary pressure caused (in part) by the soaring cost of raw materials and energy prices. Increased prices and elevated volatility across commodity markets has tested the limits of traditional procurement strategy and commodity risk management. The contradiction between renewed global demand in the endemic world and increased supply-side challenges indicates that this volatility is likely to remain a  key theme through 2022. Almost every Commodities market is entering in a tightening period, with some of the steepest levels of backwardation since 2006. Can commodity prices remain higher, or possibly go higher still?
