Dr. Yurij Baransky

Yurij graduated from Columbia University with a Ph.D in Plasma Physics in 1987. Awarded a Oak Ridge National Fusion Fellowship, he spent the next 2 years continuing his research. Joining IBM as a T.J. Watson Research Staff Member at the T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown, NY, he spent the next 10 years working on various aspects of mapping real-world problems to parallel processing machines. Increasingly drawn to the computational problems of the financial industry, he joined Deutsche Bank, NY in 1998 and subsequently joined Bloomberg in 2000. Yurij has worked in several engineering groups, at various levels of management including Head of Transactional Engineering. He formally joined the Product department in 2014. Currently he is the Global Product Manager of PAIR trading at Bloomberg, a technology and group he started in 2010. Dr. Baransky is an associated person of Bloomberg Tradebook LLC.
