Nathan Dean

Senior Analyst — Government and Financial Services

Nathan Dean is a government analyst for Bloomberg Intelligence specializes in capital markets, covering Congress and regulatory agencies including the SEC, CFTC and Federal Reserve. Before joining Bloomberg, Nathan worked in the government affairs departments for CME Group (Chicago Mercantile Exchange) and Bank of America, where he focused on the regulatory implementation of Dodd-Frank and Congressional attempts to amend the Act. He also served as an expert for legislators, policymakers and regulators on the impact of government policy on the financial services industry. Prior to working in government affairs, he led a team of structured finance managers focusing on collateralized loan obligations in Europe and the U.S. for Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Nathan was also a management consultant for a boutique consulting firm, serving Fortune 500 clients. Nathan has a bachelor’s of science degree in Management from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Kyle Trygstad

Kyle Trygstad leads Bloomberg Government’s coverage of congressional elections and House and Senate leadership. Before joining the publication in 2019, he served as editor in chief of National Journal’s The Hotline, and was previously a features editor and political reporter at Roll Call and a Washington correspondent for Real Clear Politics. In that time he covered national party conventions; reported from the Capitol and the campaign trail, from San Diego to Savannah; provided political analysis on TV and radio; moderated panels; and delivered speeches.

Duane Wright

Senior Analyst - Government and Health Care

Duane Wright is a Senior Analyst for the health team at Bloomberg Intelligence. Prior to joining Bloomberg he was a Vice President in the Government Affairs department for the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) where he was team lead on diagnostics, coverage and reimbursement issues, and led industry efforts to repeal the medical device tax in 2019. Prior to AdvaMed he was a Vice President at Finsbury Glover Hering, a multi-client consultant firm, and America’s Health Insurance Plans. Prior to his private sector work he was lead health staff for Senator Tom Carper (D-DE), and a Legislative Assistant to former Congressman Jim Davis (D-FL). Wright holds a law degree from The George Washington University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

JENNIFER RIE

Senior Analyst - Antitrust Litigation

Jennifer Rie is a senior analyst for Bloomberg Intelligence, a unique research platform that provides context on industries, companies, government policy, litigation and the economy, available on the Bloomberg Professional Service at BI GO. Ms. Rie specializes in antitrust litigation and investigations and M&A activity. Prior to joining Bloomberg, Ms. Rie was an attorney at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, practicing in areas of antitrust litigation, counseling/compliance and regulatory matters. She also practiced antitrust law at Clifford Chance US LLP. Ms. Rie received both her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology as well as her J.D. at Case Western Reserve University. She is a member of ABA, Antitrust Section and New York Bar Association Antitrust Section. She has been admitted to the Courts of Appeals for the EDNY and SDNY as well as the US Supreme Court and is licensed in Ohio, Washington D.C. and New York.

Matt Schettenhelm

Litigation and Policy Analyst

Matthew Schettenhelm is a senior analyst for Bloomberg Intelligence, a unique research platform that provides context on industries, companies, government, litigation and the economy, available on the Bloomberg Professional Service at BI GO . Mr. Schettenhelm specializes in litigation related to telecommunications, FCC, copyright, media, music licensing, and cable television. Prior to taking on his current role as a senior analyst at Bloomberg, Mr. Schettenhelm practiced law for ten years at Miller & Van Eaton PLLC as well as Best Best & Krieger LLP where he represented clients on telecommunications and appellate litigation matters. Mr. Schettenhelm earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) as well as a JD from George Washington University Law School. He is a member of the Washington D.C. Bar as well as a member of the Federal Communications Bar Association.

Brandon Barnes is a senior analyst for Bloomberg Intelligence, a unique research platform that provides context on industries, companies, litigation and government policy, available on the Bloomberg Professional Service at BI . Mr. Barnes has been covering the Energy Sector for Bloomberg since 2014, specializing in the analysis of litigation, regulation and policy impacting energy companies and the broader industry. Mr. Barnes is also the team leader for the Americas Energy team. Prior to joining Bloomberg, Mr. Barnes was an attorney with McDermott Will & Emery focused on energy and environmental matters. He is a former Chair of the Energy and Natural Resources Litigation Committee, ABA as well as a former Executive Committee Member and Chair of the Professional Development Committee for the Rose Council of Wake Forest University School of Law. Mr. Barnes earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well as a JD from Wake Forest University School of Law. He has been admitted to practice law in Maryland, District of Columbia, several federal courts, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Andrew Silverman

Government Analyst - Tax Policy

Andrew Silverman is a Tax Policy Analyst for Bloomberg Intelligence, a research platform that provides context on industries, companies, government, litigation, and the economy, available on the Bloomberg Professional Services at BI. Mr. Silverman covers tax matters related to Congress and federal regulatory agencies, including the IRS and the Treasury Department, and their impacts to U.S. and foreign companies. Before joining Bloomberg, Mr. Silverman worked as a tax lawyer for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and Deloitte Tax LLP, where he focused on international and domestic tax issues in the financial services space. Mr. Silverman also served as vice president and counsel at AllianceBernstein and as a corporate associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and Clifford Chance US LLP. Mr. Silverman has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Union College, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan Law School, and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
